KU adds to lawsuit against Joe-College

Joe-College.com has printed shirts that appear to relate to Kansas University’s Orange Bowl bid, and KU has added those shirts to its lawsuit against the retailer.

On Friday, the federal district court in Kansas City, Kan., granted the university’s motion to add 10 additional shirts to its lawsuit against Joe-College. Most of them relate to the bowls this year, including Missouri’s Cotton Bowl bid, though some are more generic.

KU is suing Joe-College because it claims the store is using its trademarks without paying royalties to the university. Joe-College owner Larry Sinks did not return a message seeking comment Friday.

Additionally, the court last week moved the trial originally set for early January to the end of March. However, Judy Potorff, corporate counsel for Kansas Athletics, said it’s possible the date could move again because of scheduling conflicts.
