U.S. Bank expands region, names Lawrence president

Two executives working at U.S. Bank in Lawrence are moving up the corporate ladder.

Mike Orozco is now president for the bank’s newly expanded region that includes Kansas, northwest Missouri and southwest Iowa, the company announced Friday. The region includes 28 branches with total deposits of about $660 million.

Orozco, a Lawrence resident, is responsible for the bank’s wholesale and retail lines of business. He has been working for U.S. Bank for nearly three years – he had been regional president for Kansas before this promotion – and has 24 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Also Friday, the bank announced that Brad Burnside would become president for the bank’s Lawrence operations, which have about $218 million in deposits. He is taking over for Chuck Warner, who is retiring effective Dec. 31 after 20 years with the bank and its predecessors in town: First National Bank of Lawrence, Mercantile Bank and Firstar Bank.

Burnside is the current senior vice president and commercial banking manager for the bank in Lawrence, and will retain responsibilities that go with that job: wholesale banking, plus commercial business development that includes lending for businesses and commercial real estate.

As president, Burnside will oversee about 80 employees in the Lawrence market, and continue to work out of the main bank: 900 Mass., where Orozco also works.

Burnside, who received a master’s degree in business administration from Kansas University, serves on the board of directors for Lawrence Junior Achievement.
