Freezing rain, storm expected today
The National Weather Service issued a freezing rain advisory that is in effect until 6 p.m. today.
A winter storm watch has also been issued beginning this evening through Sunday morning, which means hazardous winter weather conditions are possible in or near north-central or northeast Kansas along the Nebraska border.
Road travel is discouraged, and the National Weather Service also cautions people to be prepared for the chance of power failure.
Jennifer Schack, 6News chief meteorologist, said there will be mainly freezing rain and drizzle through the day with a high of 31 degrees. Strong winds are also expected during the evening, Schack said.
Schack said there’s a good chance for sleet and snow Sunday with a high of 25 degrees.
