To the editor:

What a glorious year of football Kansas University’s team has given to all their fans, including us alumni scattered throughout the world. It must have been great fun to live in Lawrence this fall and be part of the daily conversation, as the team triumphed week after week.

I do hope that the KU student body, in concert with Lawrence’s civic leaders, intends to honor the players and coaches of their football team with a grand celebration that befits the historic achievements of the team and reflects the civic pride the entire Lawrence community is certainly entitled to feel.

I recommend a parade down Mass. Street that ends at Memorial Stadium with a rousing pep rally to thank the guys and wish them well in the Orange Bowl. Better hurry, though, before everyone goes home for the holidays.

Go Hawks (and thanks!), and go, Lawrence.
