Checkers joins Just Food to fill pantries

The Just Food program is partnering with Checkers Foods, 2300 La., in December.

During visits to Checkers in December, shoppers can donate money at the cash register in $1, $5 or $10 increments. The donations will be used to purchase food to feed needy families and individuals in Douglas County through partnering Just Food pantries.

January and February are challenging months for local food pantries to maintain donations, said Jeanette Collier, executive director of ECKAN. After the holidays, donations are low and the need is high, she said.

Food donations are also accepted at ECKAN anytime during regular business hours. But call ahead to 841-3357 to make an appointment for a drop-off time.
