Letters to the Editor

Goodbye, Rove

August 30, 2007

To the editor:

"Good riddance and please don't come back!" I'm referring to the recent departure of Karl Rove, the former political strategist and adviser to President Bush. Mr. Rove's resignation is the best news Democrats have had in weeks.

Mr. Rove, alias "Dr. Evil," "Master of Disaster," etc.., has been a proverbial thorn in the side of Democrats from Washington, D.C., to Texas for nearly 15 years.

Love him or loathe him, Karl Rove is a "political enigma" rarely seen in American politics.

Worth noting, Mr. Rove has attended five different colleges and universities and has yet to obtain a degree. However, most formally educated people, including yours truly, would aptly admit that the significance of a college degree is overrated!

Have we heard the last of "Dr. Rove"? I doubt it! Most likely, Mr. Rove will write a book and embark on a "bountiful lecture tour."

After that, "the good doctor" will gravitate toward "the color of money." Can you blame him?

The Journal-World should not have printed this letter. Not because of the anger or even the name calling, but because this just has no point.

I guess... If you live under a rock.. I guess I could see that.

Robert is right... we hadn't seen the likes of Karl since Joseph Goebbels...

Rumor has it that the Clintons are pursuing him to work his magic for them, too.

I just hope that we are never again subjected to a person like Rove serving in the White House. He always, always puts Party before Country. No one needs that. Ever.

Don't sugarcoat it. Rove was a disaster for all Americans and more, not just pathetic Democrats. He had to pull the wool over many so-called conservative voters' eyes, too. Fooled 'em twice. Let's face it, the only thing more surprising than Bush's election in '00 was that he was re-elected. That, after his dismal performance in his first term, was sad and shocking. Was this all Rove's work? I don't think so. It wouldn't have happened without the complicity of gooberish homers who feel it's more important to be on the "winning" side than to consider the interests of our nation. And still they believe.

Not bad for a college drop out, huh?

staff04 9 years, 9 months ago

Well, he certainly can't do any good for Republicans from within the Administration, might as well move on. One thing I doubt though is that he will be spending his next 3-6 months (maybe even longer) doing a speaking tour or working for another campaign. As Senator Leahy said, resignations don't stop those subpeonas...Rove's going to be awfully busy dealing with that whole issue...

I agree with the first poster. This letter should not have been printed. It lacks in substance or any real dialogue, conveyance of information, or argument. It is simply name-calling.

Much like most of the posts by so-called "conservatives" on this forum (you know who you are).

Dear Colonel Angus,

This letter is being written to you and is full of right-wing talking points, which you will swallow hook, line, and sinker. Thank you for blindly supporting our agenda and parroting our talking points on various internet forums. It is just wonderful to have useful idiots such as yourself assist us in spreading our propoganda.

Dear Colonel Angus,

Please meet me in the second stall of the men's bathroom in the Minneapolis airport to discuss more neocon strategies.

Yours truly, Right_Thnker

"Mr. Rove's resignation is the best news Democrats have had in weeks." Actually best news for all fine U.S. citizens!

Don't be so shy. Do you want me to ask for Colonel Angus' phone number for you?

Roadkill_Rob 9 years, 9 months ago

Homophobe? No...I'm just trying to play matchmaker for neocons who like to live secret lives like their heroes.

Come on, be honest. You tried to type a funny rebuttal and then you realized you're not funny.

"The sexual fantasizing of Col. Angus and me by several of the valued leftists LJW neighbors has increased over the past few days."

Maybe if you guys could refrain for one day from giving each other the virtual "reach-around," your neighbors wouldn't be so inclined to make such suggestions. Ya think?

RKR, I started to type up a funny rebuttal, but better not. It's good to kid around-ya'll have a good onegotta run for awhile. Play nice.

Based on the post linked below, I'm guessing it was ladies day at the Country Club...do they let you play? Do you have to take your own balls, or do they have loaners?

Everyone knows that Karl Rove and Alberto Gonzales are going into business together designing voting machines. I heard, through the grapevine, that they were last seen sipping martini's in the basement of G.W's ranch in Crawford with Osama Bin Laden. He's been couch surfing there since the 9/11 debacle. Barbara promised Osama's mother she'd look after him.

Innuendo it was, sexual, it was not.

I'll ask again, in less inuendo-ish terms. Did your breadwinning wife whose salary and power you bragged about give you permission to leave the house yesterday?
