KU alum hired as new assistant city manager

There’s a new No. 2 at City Hall.

Cindy Boecker, an assistant city administrator in Liberty, Mo., will be one of two assistant city managers to City Manager Dave Corliss. She starts Sept. 24.

She graduated from KU with a masters degree in public administration; Boecker has held municipal positions in Overland Park; Bowling Green, Ky.; and Lexington, Mass.

“Cindy’s experience in city management and all functions of a municipality will be an asset to the city,” City Manager David Corliss said in a press release Friday afternoon. “Her work in operations and resource planning and management will support the city as we continue to provide the excellent services that our community expects.”

Boecker takes the position left empty when Corliss took the top job in 2006. Recruitment is under way to fill the other job, being vacated by longtime city employee Debbie Van Saun.
