Jayhawk women end Australia trip on high note

? Danielle McCray sparkled, but the sophomore guard wasn’t the whole show as Kansas University’s basketball team completed its Australian tour.

McCray paced the Jayhawks with 21 points and eight rebounds in an 83-54 romp over Queensland U-19 state team on Tuesday.

Porscha Weddington, another sophomore, contributed 18 points and five boards. Senior Taylor McIntosh had a dozen points and six rebounds. Soph Sade Morris also posted 12 points and added a pair of steals.

Senior Jamie Boyd and soph LaChelda Jacobs just missed getting into double figures with eight points each as the Jayhawks concluded their barnstorming Down Under with a 3-1 record.

“We had a very balanced attack,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson, “and it was good to see some different people stepping up.”

The Jayhawks demolished Queensland, 46-29, on the glass, including a glaring 23-6 discrepancy on the offensive end. Kansas had 28 second-chance points.

The KU traveling party was scheduled to return to Lawrence today. Classes will begin on Thursday.
