Sports distraction
To the editor:
After 45 years of living in Lawrence, I see absolutely nothing unifying about KU sports. Indeed, they are an unwarranted distraction from the supposed academic purpose of a true university. Never will Kansas University achieve even a semblance of academic respectability until its leaders courageously and correctly advocate the supremacy of intellectual endeavors over sports of any kind.
