American Indian youths needed for casting call

American Indian youth ages 10 to 18 with varying hair lengths are needed for a new movie by Lawrence filmmaker Kevin Willmott.

“The Only Good Indian,” written by Lawrence native Tom Carmody, will star Wes Studi as a retriever sent to find a young boy who escapes from the Haskell boarding school in the early 1900s.

A casting call will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Haskell Cultural Center and Museum, 155 Indian Ave. Extras should have their clothing size available during the call.

Extras are needed for filming at locations in Topeka, Lawrence and Wichita beginning Tuesday.
