A running, walking and bicycling event to benefit local literacy projects will take place Saturday.

Altrusa International of Lawrence, a local business and professionals group, will play host to the Run, Walk, Ride 4 Reading event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the recreational trail just north of the Kansas River Bridge in downtown Lawrence.

There is no entry fee, but organizers ask that participants collect pledges or donations to be used for literacy projects in the area.
