Topeka A bill that would divest the Kansas public pension system of holdings in companies that invest in Sudan has been approved by the Legislature.
The measure now goes to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for her consideration.
The Kansas Public Employees Retirement System has about $38 million of its $12 billion in assets linked to companies with some ties in Sudan.
Sudan's government has been blamed for atrocities in an ethnic conflict in the Darfur region.
