Poker tournament to help fight Alzheimer’s

Texas Hold'em poker players are invited to a benefit tournament tonight to raise funds to fight Alzheimer's disease.
The tournament will begin at 6 p.m. at the Smith Center at Brandon Woods Retirement Community, 4730 Brandon Woods Terrace.
The tourney is sponsored by Harbor House, Qualicare, KLZR-FM radio, Lawrence Journal-World, Windsor Assisted Living, Heart of America Hospice and The Arbor (Memory Care by Brandon Woods).
The donation for playing in the novice clinic and/or attending the silent auction is $25, and the Texas Hold'em Tournament player donation is $100.
The tournament player will receive two round-trip tickets to Las Vegas on Allegiant Air. The second-place finisher will receive a Kansas City weekend package. The third-place finisher will receive a $100 gift certificate to Weaver's department store, 901 Mass.
There will be a silent auction with items donated from the Law-rence-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, Kansas University, Windsor Assisted Living, Lawrence Therapy Services, Eudora Nursing Center, Centro Cigars, H&P Medical Equipment, Southern Care Hospice and donations from other individuals and organizations.
