The Jefferson County Historical Society will celebrate its opening weekend May 5 at Old Jefferson Town in Oskaloosa.
Events planned for the day include a May pole dance, May basket workshop, a display of children's art and a reception to recognize the founding members of the Jefferson County Historical Society.
The buildings and museums will be available for tour at that time as well. Those interested in county history can also stop by from May 5 through the last weekend in September on Saturdays between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. or Sundays between 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
