No-parking request for Tennessee St. denied

Commissioners unanimously denied a request to establish a no-parking zone along the western side of Tennessee Street near the intersection with 21st Street.

A neighborhood resident had requested the change because of concerns about poor visibility at the intersections.

Commissioners said they were concerned that creating the no-parking area would set a bad precedent that could lead to the loss of a significant amount of parking in neighborhoods.

Commissioners also did not act on a request to establish a no-parking zone on the western side of Oak Tree Drive, adjacent to the school crossing at Vantuyl Drive.

Instead, commissioners sent the item back to the Traffic Safety Commission for further consideration.
