Hearing set for suspect in downtown melee
A Douglas County District Court judge set a preliminary hearing for the man involved in a disturbance last month in downtown Lawrence.
Aubrey Gilbert, 23, Lawrence, faces felony aggravated assault charges stemming from the March 25 incident involving a gun near Seventh and Massachusetts streets.
Evidence in the case will be heard during a preliminary hearing, scheduled for May 29.
Gilbert is accused of pulling a gun on two people inside a truck after a crowd of about 30 people had circled the vehicle. Gilbert was run over in the melee but refused medical treatment at the scene.
