Kyle Schreiner will sign a letter of intent to play basketball for Ottawa University at 3:05 p.m. this afternoon in the Free State High library.

The FSHS senior shooting guard picked Ottawa over Bethany College in Lindsborg.

“I think the biggest thing was it was close to home,” Schreiner said. “It’ll be great to have my parents and sister come watch me anytime they want. Having a family that’s watched me my whole life will be a huge thing for me at the next level.”

Schreiner led the Firebirds to their first state-playoff victory in school history.

Schreiner will have the opportunity to share the floor at Ottawa with another former Firebird, Matt Green, who graduated from Free State in 2005. Green, a 6-foot-2 guard, played basketball for Barton County Community College for the past two years.
