Architect receives Presidential Award

Craig Penzler, former member and chair of the Lawrence Public Library Board of Trustees and founder and chair of the library’s New Directions Task Force, received the Presidential Award in the Library Advocate category from the Kansas Library Association.

Penzler received the award April 12, during the organization’s annual conference in Topeka.

Penzler, an architect and internationally known sports venue consultant, helped lead the library’s process for exploring an expansion. The library organized a design charette, participated in several study sessions with Lawrence city commissioners and conducted public visioning sessions, all under Penzler’s leadership.
