The Firebirds’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Katie Swank, Heather Clark, Katie Sloan and Morgan Flannigan set a school record – and a meet record – with a time of 1 minute, 43.05 seconds, while Clark now has the school’s fastest time in the 100 backstroke after finishing second in 59.40.

“This is going to be our competition at state, so it was real exciting to match up against these teams from the southern part of the state,” said Free State coach Annette McDonald. “It was a very exciting meet. They all raced really well, and you can’t ask more than that.”

Lawrence High finished sixth in the 14-team field with 199 points. Elle Weber scored the the top finishes for the Lions, taking third in the 200 individual medley in 2:18.27 and fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.00.
