Physician to take leadership position

Dr. Donald Hatton, a Lawrence physician, will take office as chairman-elect of the American College of Physicians’ Board of Governors at the college’s annual Internal Medicine scientific meeting this month in San Diego.

Hatton practices with the Reed Medical Group in Lawrence. He has served as governor of the college’s Kansas chapter since 2004 and received the chapter’s Laureate Award in 1998.

Hatton’s professional activities include serving on the Kansas Medical Society’s council and executive committees. He was the society’s president in 1987 and also was president of the Douglas County Medical Society from 1978 to 1981.

He earned his medical degree from the Kansas University Medical Center and was a lieutenant commander in the medical corps of the United States Navy from 1969 to 1971.
