Watkins to present program on pioneers

A Kansas Humanities Council program called “Through the Eyes of Young Pioneers” will be presented April 26 at Watkins Community Museum of History, 1047 Mass.

The presentation will be made at 7 p.m. by Marilyn J. Holt, a historical and editorial consultant. By using diaries and letters, the program will focus on the land, people, towns and daily life as seen through the eyes of children and teenagers.

Holt’s research interests and publications center on children’s, teenagers’ and women’s experiences in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Humanities Council is a nonprofit organization with 30 years of experience promoting the understanding of history, traditions and ideas that shape lives and communities.
