Friends of the Kaw gets humanities grant

The grant, worth more than $9,100, will help pay for a new feature on the group’s Web site, www.kansasriver.com. Called “Life on the Kaw,” the feature is designed to connect the Kansas River to other aspects of culture, including history and poetry. The grant to Friends of the Kaw was the largest awarded Tuesday.

Other grants went to the Smoky Valley Historical Society in Lindsborg, Votaw Colony Museum in Coffeyville and Lone Chimney Films in Andover.

Overall, the council awarded more than $24,000 in grants.
