Lawrence police are investigating a report of a robbery early Friday at Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop, 1447 W. 23rd St.

A 23-year-old store employee told police he was locking the front door of the business about 4:20 a.m. when two suspects approached from the west and kept walking toward him as he backed away. The employee said one of the suspects grabbed the business deposit bag from him, and both suspects fled west on foot.

The suspects are described as weighing between 140 and 170 pounds and standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall. They were last seen wearing black ski masks and black hooded sweatshirts.

They must have gotten tired of being teased by JJ"S advertised " FREE SMELLS ". The employee is lucky they weren't more impatient and came in during hours and assault him with their day-old-bread. OOUCHH !!

This was no delivery boy. This was the guy sent out with the night deposit. It happened in front of the building, and a moment later he notified the people in the business right next to him that it happened. Whatever jackass tried to claim that it didn't happen needs his head stomped.

No. Only an idiot would make claims as to this being some sort of inside job to satisfy their own dysfunction. I am an arrogant jerk. Get it right. Anyone that would bother reading my posting history would know that I am a self centered, egotistical, arrogant individual with delusions of grandeur and self loathing.

However, from looking at your post about how the homeless getting "bum bashed" are at fault for being homeless, as well as your other inept diatribe lead me to wonder if you are who you claim to be. From my examinations of your post history, you have come along about a month and a half ago and started acting like you not only knew the local situations, but like you also knew a majority of those that also post on this website.

I actually know what type of person you are. You are one of the type of people that like to stir up commotions. I personally suspect that you are one of the so-called night monitors at the Lawrence open shelter, and have probably been involved in at least one assault there.

I would suggest you not go into personal attacks the way you did. Such things have a nasty way of invoking karma. Or at minimum, the wrath of an irate homeless individual. Either way, not fun.

No restaurant should have only one person working late at night. There should always be at least two people on duty.

That would minimize the chance of robbery, and make it hard to fake a robbery.

When I visit the Subway restaurant in late evening which I often do because I work late, there is usually only one person working, and they are often in the back room when I come in. I always wonder, what if I were an armed robber? That employee seems at risk.

I didn't make my point very well. My main concern is the safety of the employee who is working alone, late at night, with a lot of cash in the drawer.
