Jefferson Commons murder set for court review

Defendant alleges errors in trial

? The Kansas Supreme Court will hear arguments next week in the appeal of Lafayette Cosby, a Lawrence man who was sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of Robert Martin.

Cosby shot Martin at close range on April 4, 2004, at a late-night party at Jefferson Commons.

Prosecutors argued that Cosby shot Martin because he believed Martin was out to get him.

In his appeal, Cosby alleges there were numerous errors during his trial, including allowing his statement to police to be admitted.

His appeal will be heard Monday.
