Project Graduation seeks volunteers

Volunteers are being sought to help with an annual party for Lawrence's graduating high school seniors.

The party, Project Graduation 2007, is a community-sponsored alcohol- and drug-free event. It will be from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. May 27 at Abe & Jake's Landing, 8 E. Sixth St.

Phyllis Buchele, Jamie Hulse, Betsy Kelly and Julie Swank are co-chairs of the event.

They said they need volunteers to acquire cash and prize donations and to work the night of the party.

Checks may be made payable to Project Graduation 2007 and sent to Project Graduation 2007, Tim and Cindy Fritzel, Treasurers, P.O. Box 3083, Lawrence 66046.

Planned activities so far are a mechanical bull, cash cage, NASCAR Race game, Wheel of Fortune Prize Wheel, casino, DJ, karaoke and a magician.

Prizes donated so far include a car from Laird Noller Automotive, a personal DVD player, a $500 scholarship and a digital camera.
