FSHS soccer team blanks Leavenworth

? Grace Lang and Leah Williams each scored goals, and Megan Hrenchir made sure they were more than enough Thursday as the Free State High girls soccer team earned a 2-0 victory against host Leavenworth.

Lang opened the scoring in the first half, while Williams provided the Firebirds (2-3-2) with an insurance goal seven minutes into the second half.

“It was an outstanding defensive effort by our entire team,” Free State coach Jason Pendleton said. “I am very proud of how we both competed and executed, and I am looking forward to our game on Monday night against Topeka High to see if we can keep some momentum going and win our third game in a row.”

Free State will meet Topeka in a 6;15 p.m. kickoff Monday at Hummer Sports Park.
