‘Shred Fest’ set for Saturday

KU Credit Union invites area residents to bring old, unwanted documents and computer disks to the financial institution’s first “Shred Fest,” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 2222 W. 31st St.

Each attendee can bring up to two boxes of documents to be shredded and disposed of. All shredding will be conducted by a professional shredding company; participants are asked to bring only old sensitive documents, and not common recycling items or newspapers.

“The single most effective weapon against fraud and identity theft is an informed, educated citizen,” said Ginger Wehner, assistant vice president for the credit union. “Shred Fest is an example of the different ways we can help our community protect themselves against this increasing danger.”

The event will include free frozen custard, provided by Sheridan’s Frozen Custard.
