Engineering student wins Udall scholarship

A Kansas University junior is among the 80 winners of this year’s Morris K. Udall scholarship, a nationwide award that provides $5,000 for students planning environmental careers and for American Indian students planning to work in health care or tribal policy.

Raymond M. “Studie” Red Corn of Shawnee is the 17th KU student to win the scholarship since the program began in 1996 in honor of the longtime Arizona congressman. Red Corn is a member of the Osage Nation who is studying civil engineering and plans to work in environmental and tribal-policy issues.

Two other KU juniors, Sarah E. Edwards of Leawood and Bridget K. Livers of Overland Park, won honorable mentions and will receive a $350 award.
