Harley-Davidson to celebrate opening

April 5, 2007

Riverfront Harley-Davidson will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the motorcycle dealership, 608 N. Second St. in North Lawrence.

The ceremony, organized by the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, will be followed Saturday with festivities that include blues music from Del Skinner, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; motorcycle demo rides from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and other events throughout the day.

A Denim and Leather Gala will be conducted April 14, with proceeds benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association. For ticket information, call the association at (785) 267-6519, or click on

The dealership - which opened Dec. 15 and includes sales, service, parts and branded attire and gifts - is owned by Mike Patterson, who also owns Topeka Harley-Davidson.

Consumer1 - I can't comment about Topeka HD and new bikes but I have always had good experience with their service shop. They have done excellent work at a reasonable price on my old shovel. I am glad to see that the new Lawrence store is more than a HD fashion boutique/t-shirt shop.

Yup Topeka Harley, so if you want to get screwed this is the place to go in Lawrence. These cats are dubious at best. I bought my bike from Gayles after the run around topeka harley gave me.
