Firefighters responded Wednesday night to a chimney and attic fire at a house at 2032 Mass., emergency dispatchers said.

Firefighters have reported no injuries. Both residents and a dog made it safely out of the home.

The call came in at 7:42 p.m. to dispatchers, and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical firefighters remained on the scene late into the evening, looking for hot spots. The fire and response is blocking traffic between 19th and 21st streets on Massachusetts Street.

A roofer working on the home said he smelled smoke just before the fire, residents told 6News staff.
