If you like warm weather, you're in luck today.

"We're heading into the low 80s," said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. "We have a lot of sun in the forecast."

Winds will be out of the west-southwest at 5 to 12 mph, Schack said.

The afternoon high temperature will reach 83 degrees, she said. The average high temperature for this date is 78 degrees. The record high was 94 degrees, set in 1953.

At 7 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport's temperature was 43 degrees, the humidity was 100 percent and winds were calm.

The average low temperature for this date is 56 degrees. The record low was 35 degrees, set in 1912.

Schack predicted clear skies tonight, with the low temperature dropping to 55 degrees by early Wednesday morning. Winds overnight will be light and variable, she said.

Wednesday's temperature will climb to a high of 74 degrees, with winds from the west at 8 to 15 mph, she said.

A few rain showers are possible late Wednesday night as a cold front moves in, she said. Temperatures will fall Wednesday night to a low of 44 degrees, she said.

Thursday's high temperate will climb to only 59 degrees, with sunny skies, she said.
