Lawrence woman killed on county road

A Lawrence woman has been identified by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office as the victim of a fatal accident Saturday near Midland.
Michelle S. Bird, 56, was killed when her vehicle went out of control and was struck by an oncoming vehicle on County Road 1045 near the Douglas County-Jefferson County line, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Bird was pronounced dead at the scene.
