Toddler back at home after three-story fall

Police also said officers did not suspect foul play

September 25, 2006

Edwin Alejandro, the 2-year-old who fell from the third floor of a Lawrence apartment building Friday, was released from the hospital Sunday, said Thomas McCormally, a Children's Mercy Hospital spokesman.

Alejandro was flown to the Kansas City, Mo., hospital Friday evening for precautionary measures after he leaned against - and fell through - a window screen at the Boardwalk Apartments, 509 Fireside Drive.

Lawrence Police said officers did not suspect foul play; Edwin's mother was in another room tending to other children, and he was in the room by himself. He awoke from a nap was standing on a chair in front of the window where the screen was intact. He leaned against it and fell through.

Edwin- Glad to hear you're recovering. Enjoy being able to do that as a kid - if us parents did something like that, we'd have all kinds of broken bones.

By the way, if one falls out of a 3rd story window, don't they only fall two stories? Assuming the 1st story is at ground level?
