2-year-old fall victim in fair condition
The Lawrence 2-year-old who fell from a third-floor window of an apartment building Friday was listed in fair condition at a hospital Saturday.
Police said that Edwin Alejandro leaned against a window screen at the Boardwalk Apartments, 509 Fireside Drive, and fell to the ground and that he was flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., for precautionary measures.
Barbara Mueth, a hospital spokeswoman, said Edwin was listed in fair condition.
Police said officers did not suspect foul play; Edwin’s mother was in another room tending to other children, and he was in the room by himself and was standing on a chair in front of the window where the screen was intact. He leaned against it and fell through.
