Locomotive to pass through city today
Union Pacific Railroad’s legendary steam locomotive No. 844 is expected to pass through Lawrence about midday today.
The train is traveling from its home base in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., for a weekend train show.
The locomotive is scheduled to stop at 10:30 a.m. at Topeka’s Overland Station Depot, 701 N. Kansas Ave. It will depart at 11 a.m. for Kansas City and should pass through North Lawrence sometime before noon. It is not scheduled to stop in Lawrence.
