Allen Press Inc., Lawrence, had several winners in the 2006 Annual Gold Ink Awards, a print production competition sponsored by Publishing Executive and Printing Impressions magazines.

Hoover Digest won gold, silver and bronze awards for three issues of the journal in the Scientific and Technical Journals category. Gems and Gemology took fourth.

The contest drew more than 1,500 entries in 49 categories, all judged by professionals for quality, technical difficulty and overall visual effect.

Allen Press, now in its 71st year, has 400 employees at 810 E. Eighth St., where it partners with academic, medical and specialty organizations to provide publishing and other services.
