Poor comparison
To the editor:
I was a little troubled by the letter to the editor comparing the war in Iraq and the war on terror to a home remodeling project. I think the most important thing about a home remodel has been overlooked in this comparison. You should own the home! We don’t. So, we should leave such an extensive project to the owners. Looking further, any work being done based on inaccurate information and shoddy workmanship should be done correctly, which may require hiring a different contractor.
A nice attempt to reduce a very complex issue to the simplest terms. Good use of the standard party line of “cut and run.” It will get a lot of play this election. Kind of reminds me of the old “if it doesn’t fit, you must acquit” line from a few years back. Sounds great but, when votes are based on sound bites and catch phrases, attention is diverted away from critical thinking about the issues.
So, please do not be swayed by these catchy little phrases. Let’s use our heads and do the project right by acquiring the proper permits, getting several bids and checking references. But first, buy the house! Good luck with your remodel!
