With the 2006 election looming large, the question is not who will win, but who will vote?

If the Democrats cannot stimulate the young voters, who are overwhelmingly in their camp, they will lose. Once again, control will be with the Republicans because they can count on their religious right-wing base. Neither hell nor high water will keep them from going to the polls and re-electing the GOP. With a record low turnout expected, it may well be that the Republicans have little to worry about.

It would be as ironic as a story by O. Henry if the 18-29 crowd, who have more riding on this election than any of us, stay away in record numbers.

In the end, we get the kind of Congress we deserve.
