Teamwork

To the editor:

The success of the Howard family situation (Journal-World, Sept. 11) is a clear example of the value and necessity of the WRAP program in the Lawrence school district and the inter-school team support that it provides students and families.

Sadly, this is not always the outcome, due to budget restraints and timing for some of the local agencies. One of the major differences for the Howards has been a direct result of mutual respect and collaboration between myself and the school counselor, Catherine Bolton. Our working relationship is an example of teamwork in its finest form. As a result of her input and community networking we were able to obtain more resources that produced the financial and in-kind assistance needed by this family. All too often the mention of teamwork is neglected in the press and our workday environments. I, for one, am thankful that the schools I am assigned to appreciate and support all of us and recognize the behind-the-scenes work that we as teams produce.
