Blind justice?
To the editor:
I would like to commend the Lawrence police officer who was parked at Bucky’s Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m. for his devotion to keeping our streets safe. That officer was somehow able not to see two noticeably bad, some may even say drunken, drivers get into an accident at the intersection of Ninth and Iowa. Both cars stopped for a moment before fleeing the scene, and yet the officer didn’t even turn on his lights. I can only hope that if there is a time when I break the law and endanger innocent drivers’ lives, that same officer will show me as much attention as he did the drivers I witnessed this morning.
