To the editor:

I would like to thank Christian Moody, Julian Wright and Jeremy Case for their involvement with The 5th Quarter on Sept. 1. For those of you who don’t know, The 5th Quarter is an event open to all high school students on Friday nights at Holcom Recreation Center from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.. There is food, music and activities for everyone. Our first week went well.

Christian, Julian and Jeremy were great! They played pingpong, pool, volleyball and wallyball with the kids. They were positive in every way. The kids that were there got to interact with them in a way that will mean something to each one of the kids.

The city staff has been great to work with as well. There has been a great response from people who realize that there are not enough safe activities for our young people in Lawrence.

Thanks to the schools, city parks, parents, and the Jayhawks for helping to get The 5th Quarter started.
