Dry weather continues today

But showers and thunderstorms move in for weekend

Another warm, dry day is on tap for Lawrence.

There was some patchy fog this morning in low-lying areas, but it was burning off by 8 a.m., Schack said. Mostly sunny skies are expected this afternoon, but there will be some clouds rolling through, she said

At 8 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 54 degrees, the humidity was 94 percent and winds were calm.

The average low temperature for this date is 62 degrees. The record low was 44 degrees, set in 1986.

Overnight, temperatures will fall to 60 degrees by early Saturday morning, Schack said. Saturday’s high temperature will be 81 degrees.

There’s a chance for some showers starting Saturday morning, but the best chances for thunderstorms and showers will be Saturday night into Sunday, she said.

Sunday’s morning low temperature will be 62 degrees, she said. Sunday’s high will be 75 degrees, with the chance for showers continuing through Sunday night, she said.
