Scam-avoidance seminar on Sept. 12

Bonnie Lynch, an investor education specialist for the Office of the Kansas Securities Commissioner, will lead a seminar to help consumers avoid being targets of financial abuse and investment scams.

The seminar, “Investigate Before You Invest,” is set for 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Lawrence Community Theatre, 1501 N.H.

The program will include a brief “vignette” portraying financial scams, presented by The Vintage Players.

Lynch then will lead a question-and-answer session that will include input from Barbara Braa, Evie Curtis, Molly Wood, Margaret Farley and Deanne Bacco.

The program is sponsored by Kansas Advocates for Better Care, which will provide light sandwiches, drinks and cookies. To reserve a spot, contact the organization by phone at 842-3088, or by e-mail at info@kabc.org.
