Energy delays

To the editor:

It was interesting to read the recent letter decrying the plans for a coal-fired power plant and touting the reasons for not building it. The author noted that Kansas is far behind our neighbors in promoting wind energy. We also are far behind in solar energy.

It’s too bad she didn’t tell us that the Sierra Club, along with the governor’s office, are some of the ones who throw serious impediments to those who would construct wind energy facilities in Kansas. Their positions have caused unneeded delays, enormous extra expense and difficult roadblocks for any potential developer to face.

I suppose that’s OK for them, but it’s not their $2.5 million per turbine that the wind energy companies are trying to get investors to fork over, is it?
