Haunted Gym to benefit children

Lawrence Gymnastics Academy will welcome children ages 4 to 12 for a walk-through haunted house and family treasure hunt Saturday night, with proceeds benefiting two children with cancer.

The academy will conduct its second-annual Haunted Gym from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 4930 Legends Drive.

This year’s theme: “Pirates have crashed into the gym and hidden their treasure,” said organizer Maria Snyder, a coach and recreational director at the academy.

Admission is $5. Children can walk the plank, search for treasure and see pirates perform “daring feats,” she said.

The event benefits the families of Seamus Ryan, Lawrence, and Zachary Alexander, Topeka. Both boys have been fighting cancer for the past year.
