Dick Stuntz is new Alvamar president

Dick Stuntz is the new president of Alvamar Inc., which owns and operates a country club and public golf course in Lawrence.

Stuntz was appointed to the position by Alvamar’s board of directors, Chairman Bob McKinney announced late last week. Stuntz had been serving as the company’s interim general manager since July, when Alvamar shareholders elected new board members.

Beverly Billings, widow of Alvamar’s late co-founder Bob Billings, had been serving as Alvamar president until July. She remains a board member.

Stuntz is no stranger to the company. Before becoming interim general manager, he had been vice president for golf course facilities and has been working at Alvamar for 23 years.

“I’m honored to receive the confidence of the board, and accept the responsibility associated with the position,” Stuntz said. “I look forward to leading Alvamar in the years to come and being a part of the continued success of the dream created by Bob Billings.”
