To the editor:
Seeing that a lecture by Darryl Hart titled "The Last Dance: Why the Romance Between the Religious Right and American Conservatism May Be Over," is to be given at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Dole Institute of Politics, I write to say I hope it may indeed by true. Unfortunately, there may be many among us who may not be convinced of the necessity of this divorce.
May I encourage, then, the unconvinced to read Robin Meyers' "Why the Christian Right Is Wrong: A Minister's Manifesto for Taking Back Your Faith, Your Flag, Your Future." A more cogent, coherent argument for this necessity I have not yet read. His inspirational words are lifting me out of the long despair I have had about our beloved republic!

Religion and politics mix like oil and water. The infusion of religious doctrine into the political system hurts both entities.
