Hy-Vee donates $5,000 to schools

Hy-Vee donated more than $5,000 to various Lawrence public schools Tuesday as part of the company’s Dollars for Scholars program.

The program allows parents and school employees to collect grocery receipts from Hy-Vee during the school year, then receive a refund on a portion of the total sales depicted on the receipts.

Among those receiving checks Tuesday were Deerfield, Sunset Hill, Quail Run, Sunflower, Schwegler schools and Central Junior High School.

Now in its third year, Dollars for Scholars has provided more than $30,500 for Lawrence schools.
