More than 20 guns stolen from rural home

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is looking for leads in the theft of more than $16,000 worth of guns from a home in the 800 section of East 1259 Road. A 57-year-old man who lives there reported more than 20 guns – including target pistols, semiautomatic pistols, shotguns and rifles – stolen from various parts of the home between 7:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sept. 22, but the sheriff’s office didn’t release a report of the case until Friday.

The means of entry to the home is still under investigation.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Kari Wempe asked anyone with information to call the department at 841-0007 or the anonymous CrimeStoppers hotline at 843-TIPS.
