Grace Bahler fired a career-best 86 to lead the Free State High girls golf team to a fifth-place finish Wednesday at the Olathe East Invitational. The Firebirds tallied a 384. Olathe East won with a 339.

“It’s our lowest team score in quite some time,” said Free State coach Craig Hershiser. “We were pretty pleased with that.

Lawrence High finished ninth at 434. Senior Samantha Hays paced the Lions with a 98.

“I was very pleased with the improvement my players made,” said LHS coach Mike Lewis. “The girls all stepped up and improved their scores.”
